Böjte Csaba

We would like to introduce an important person who have done a lot for children.

Böjte Csaba started as a miner at Harghita, which is a mountain in Transylvania.

He worked for a year, but to test his will, he decided to leave and prepare to be a churchman.

His father was a poet and because one of his poem, he was arrested by the Ceausecsu-regime's court.

The jail was filled with torture, and pain, so after he left he died in a month. That was a significant experience for Csaba, and that was when he realised that the problem isn't with the person himself, but with ignorance. That was when he decided permanently to be a churchman.

In 1982 he applied to Franciscans (religious orders) secretly, because under the Ceasescu-dictatorship it wasn't allowed. He studied in Hungary until he became a churchman officially. He had been serving for many years until he was sent to Deva, where he took in a few orphans and they moved in an empty monastery. The romanian authority called them up to leave, but they didn't obey. The good news spread quickly, and he became famous about his kindness and selflessness. He established a company called Dévai Szent Ferenc Alapítvány and they take care of many orphens and helpless children even nowadays.
